The point is actually that he wants to see what happens when it doesn't. Jason watches, and watches, hand still shading his eyes, occasionally with a little glance down at his watch, counting... After a few minutes he lowers his gaze, seemingly done with whatever the point of that was-- and in his peripheral vision, he catches sight of a floating woman.

Still keeping a hand firmly on the rail, Jason lifts the other hand and calls out, "Do you need assistance?"
